Life Changes and the Social Paradigm. 2–24–21

Have lived alone for almost a year now. Lucky to have a place paid for with fantastic views to wake up to. Funny how when two people know its time to split so as to provide space for each to grow in different directions and to once again enjoy a life free of the trappings of what had become an obligatory relationship. It’s great when both realize it’s a good and healthy thing to do.

It’s taking me some time to get used to this. Part of it is letting go of the hope of getting back together; returning to a comfort zone that’s only comfortable in memory and wouldn’t be in reality.

I’m old (er, haha) shes’ younger by quite a bit. Certain physical things are failing me and also testosterone and limbic system-driven impulses have greatly waned.

I’m lucky to have my musical talent and an unquenchable thirst for learning almost anything new, even if the ambition which once drove it to the extremes has also waned. I’m lucky to not have to work to live my moderate lifestyle in a less expensive country, although the pandemic has kept me from visiting my home in the US.

Soon, I will return and probably move close to my daughters and grandson. Things are dicey for me in the US now with the pandemic running out of control and social unrest on the cusp of once again breaking out into mass violence.

So many lies and half-truths (also lies) from all directions, but mostly from the fascist and white supremacist movements.

I am white and privileged to be so. I view other cultures as an addition to the richness of life experience.

It’s unfortunate that a lot of white folks are so fearful of something bad happening to them. If it were going to happen, it would likely have already happened. The fake news runs rampant on all sides of the social spectrum, spreading false narratives to purposely stoke the fear that’s already ingrained in our limbic systems. Unfortunately, a lot of us haven’t developed our brains well enough to resist the impulse buttons that both left and right radicals are adept at pushing.

And so, we are vulnerable to unethical leaders who know how to inflame us and stoke the fires of prejudice that are already there, so as to indoctrinate us into their cults. Once we are there, they feed us a continuous stream of false information to keep us under their spell.

And we are only too happy because one of the main drivers for our species is to “belong.”

They are psyching us out!

This is something that industrial psychologists have been doing since the early 1900s to sell us products, but now they are doing it to control us politically. All of them. Not just the right. But the right does it to incite hate and violence, mostly against people of color. The left does it to move us to complacency and make it easier to control us. Where is the happy medium?

We have to “flip the pancake.” We have to redesign and implement the social paradigm.

How?
